HR Excellence in Research award

The HR Excellence in Research Award recognizes research performing organisations that demonstrate a sustained commitment to implementing the 20 principles of the European Charter for Researchers.

The HR Excellence in Researchprocess is long-term commitment based on a voluntary, structured, and periodically audited mechanism, centred on three-year cycles of continuous assessment based on gap analysis and action plans.
The award is granted for a three-year period, after which it must be renewed.

Procedures for the selection of the members of the Project Management Team of the Platform BioPhoT

The purpose of the Procedure for the Selection of the Project Management Team of the Platform “Biomedical and Photonics Research Platform for Innovative Products (BioPhoT)” (hereinafter – BioPhoT Platform) (hereinafter – Procedure) is to ensure that the BioPhoT Platform Coordinator – Latvian Organic Synthesis Institute (hereinafter – OSI), fulfils the task delegated by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia, in the Regulation No 560 (hereinafter – the Cabinet Regulation), Paragraph 69215 “to develop internal platform procedures for the selection of platform project management team members through an open competition and establish a platform project management team within the platform”.

Research Strategy

Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS) was established in 1957 to
develop new small molecule drugs and pesticides. From the time of its establishment,
the quality and impact of the research performed by the Institute has been
extraordinary. Today LIOS is proud to be an inventor of 18 original medicines and
more than 70 manufacturing processes of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The
historical standards of scientific excellence at LIOS are maintained equally high today.
LIOS mission is to provide a contribution to the improvement of human health
and the quality of life, including sustainability as an important condition for human well-being in a longer perspective. Accordingly, LIOS research is focused on two major
strategic research areas: “Human Health” and “Sustainable Chemistry and
Technologies”

Code of Ethics

The Ethics Code of the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS) establishes the core
principles and norms for ethical, respectful, and responsible behavior in LIOS’s scientific work,
interpersonal communication, and interactions with other institutions, the media, and society.
