Professor Roderich Süssmuth’s Lecture on Peptide Drug Chemistry and Cutting-Edge Biomedical Research at LIOS

On 12th September, Prof. Dr. Roderich Süssmuth from Technische Universität Berlin delivered a lecture in the conference hall of LIOS. The title of his talk was “Biological Chemistry with Peptide Drugs – Studies on Biosynthesis, Chemical Synthesis, and Mode of Action”.

Professor Süssmuth provided an insightful overview of the research conducted by his laboratory (The Süssmuth Lab) and partners. His team’s interests include developing treatments for bee diseases, exploring the use of toxic mushroom extracts in cancer therapy, and researching treatments for Gram-negative bacterial infections.

The event was well-attended, and Professor Süssmuth engaged in an in-depth professional discussion with LIOS colleagues afterwards.

Prof. Süssmuth is a highly regarded peptide chemist, renowned for his outstanding total syntheses and significant contributions to peptide biochemistry. He has published nearly 300 research papers and collaborates actively with various pharmaceutical companies.
