International Advisory Board

The International Advisory Board of the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis is established in line with the quadruple helix model, incorporating representatives from the following societal and stakeholder groups:

  • Distinguished international scientists representing the Institute’s key research areas:
  • The pharmacology and pharmacy subfields within the medical and health sciences group
  • The medical chemistry subfield within the medical and health sciences group
  • The organic chemistry subfield within the natural sciences group
  • The biochemistry and molecular biology subfields, as well as biochemical research methodologies, within the natural sciences group
  • The biomaterials, photonics materials, and intelligent materials and structures subfields within the engineering and technology group
  • Policymakers
  • The Latvian pharmaceutical industry
  • The international pharmaceutical industry
  • The higher education sector and the general public

Members of the Institute’s International Advisory Board are selected and appointed by the Institute’s Scientific Council for a term of six years. The Scientific Council also holds the authority to dismiss board members from their duties.

The function of the International Advisory Board is to assess and, where necessary, provide recommendations on:

The review and enhancement of the Institute’s strategic development plan, including:

    • Governance structures

    • Measures to support scientific excellence

    • Operational outcomes and financial status

    • Training and educational activities

    • Communication strategies and the expansion of collaboration networks

    • The relevance of research directions, including the assessment and advancement of scientific excellence.

Meetings of the International Advisory Board are held at least once a year. They are convened and chaired by the Institute’s Director.
