The antibiotic furagin and its derivatives are isoform-selective human carbonic anhydrase inhibitors

Continuing studies of carbonic anhydrase (CA) inhibitors, professors Raivis Žalubovskis’ (LIOS) and Claudiu T. Supuran’s groups showed that clinically used antibiotic Furagin and its derivatives possess inhibitory activity on human CA. It gives the solid base for investigation of drug repurposing of Furagin for anti-cancer therapy.
